Bang Your Way Through Christmas + Go See STOMP

    AStomp
It was DH’s birthday, and to mark the occasion, the family set out to see STOMP — the ultimate in percussive celebrations.

The Off-Broadway hit debuted in ’94. It’s a performance based on worldwide rhythms recreated through everyday objects — brooms, matches, newspapers, everything including the kitchen sink! The drummers, a group of 8 men and women worked their expertise with intrigue and mastery creating a collection that still feels fresh, inspiring, and completely unexpected after 20 years.

The kids were entirely immersed in the fun. And as a tribute to the art of percussion, DH was hooked by its authenticity — it was the real deal, in its own, unique way.

It was also an awesome exploration into the idea of playing with creativity, for the sake of play and creativity.

Below, one of the first posts I wrote on this blog, was about the movie made from STOMP– it touched me deeply then, and still resonates profoundly now. As we go into the slowdown of Christmas — when movie watching may appeal — this could be a great family film to check out.

Go See- Stomp A Pulse Odyssey

Curious what the rhythm of the world looks like?  Me too!  Then I saw Pulse: A Stomp Odyssey, and I can honestly say –  their view works for me!  It’s harmony with a bang!  Pure power filtered through raw essence emerging straight from the heart.   Awesome, indeed!  Starting off in NYC, the beat then travels to all corners of the globe, particularly the areas that celebrate the drumming collective — Africa, Japan, India, and Brazil are just a few.  Without a doubt, I’ve surrendered a soft spot for all types of percussion — did this happen after I married a drummer?  Or is this the reason I married a drummer?  Either way, this film is an absolute must-see for anyone who’s moved by the beat.

    Then go make your move.
