Go See: Yesterday

    Yesterday and Beauty

    Yesterday and Beauty

Oh how I love to watch a good sob story.   The more heart wrenching the tale, the better!  If a movie can move me to tears then it’s a job well done.  When I watched the preview for Yesterday,  it was pretty clear that this film could do the job.  But what I didn’t anticipate was how much deeper the main character would resonate.

The pace of the film is slow, but it didn’t take long for me to get enveloped in Yesterday’s world.  All work and no play, yet this Zulu mom exudes pure love.  And strength!  Yesterday has AIDS, but is determined to see her daughter attend school.  It’s mind over matter and it works!   Her body stays strong enough to not only watch Beauty on her first day –  she builds a hut and cares for her unfaithful husband, who is also stricken with the disease.

This movie brought up some big questions.

    What truly matters?
When is it legit to complain?

I can still see Yesterdays smile in my mind.
Reminding me –what we have is enough.

And everything is exactly as it should be.

Now, if only I could bottle this up, and bring it into the new year.

I recall reading a very positive review of this film. Thank you for reminding me of it, and, even more so of voicing your gratitude to remind me to deepen mine. So amazing to witness such stories of human strength, will, generosity, right? So inspiring. Going to go hug my kids. Cheers to you and your big heart, baby. Xoxo

    2. This film is truly amazing. It left me speechless. Definitely worth a view, if you can. And we should probably all hug our kids whenever we can, to be quite honest. I forget this too…Thank you for bringing me back to this gratitude, Sirena. Isn’t it crazy how quickly we all move on with our lives?
