And read on for my stylist tips!

    Dress Like A Kid

When my kids were little, getting dressed was simple for them. They’d choose clothes that they liked, and that made them feel good.

As women, we’ve lost touch with this simplicity and getting dressed has become complicated. We worry about looking fat, what others will think and whether we’re dressed appropriately, or not. While I encourage you to make your outfits more sophisticated than that of a child, I do hope you can strip away all the “shoulds” that complicate your style. Wear what you like and what makes you feel good.

These style tips will help you understand why your style shouldn't be taken too seriously and how to lighten up and let your style come alive in with an attitude of joy.

    Lighten Up

Despite the negative feelings that your clothing may give you when they don’t fit or look how you like, remembering that they’re just clothes can help bring perspective. There’s always a new opportunity for another outfit! Fashion styling is not serious business. It’s about creativity and self expression. The minute you start feeling weighed down by what you’re wearing, it’s time to change your clothes.

Get Rid Of Items That Hurt

As a continuation on the above point, if there are items in your closet that make you feel bad then get rid of them. Got a pair of jeans that ride up too high? A top that always sits strangely? Clear them out. There’s no need to hold onto clothes that hurt – whether it’s physically or emotionally.

    Make It About You

Your clothes are there to dress you. They’re there to support, highlight and elevate who you are. So let them do their job! Can’t figure out how to do this? Get creative. If you’ve got a top you like but the neck is too high, cut it into a scoop neck! If your outfit is feeling kind of flat or boring, find an unexpected accessory to liven up your look. Your style is your self expression. What you wear says something about you. Think about what you want to convey, then say it.

    Share Your Love

One of my clients is not into fashion at all, but she’s been sending me selfies all the time. Why? Because it’s fun! I love talking about my new clothing purchases with my friends. There’s a reason why those outfit posting facebook groups are so popular. Sharing bits about your style is a way to connect with others by sharing bits of yourself. And don’t forget to ask about their style as well.

If you’re looking for a fun community to share your style with, join my free Facebook group, Closet Shopping Collective. I provide lots of advanced styling strategies in there to help you elevate what you wear. Would love to have you join!

To make fashion fun, keep it simple, don’t take your style too seriously, clear out the pieces that make you feel bad, creatively self express and share it with others.

Hey Elysha…..I just recently bought pink gold stack rings with eternity crystals….and a look book by Ines de la Fressange which is waiting to arrive. The title of the book is “what Will I Wear today” The style icon who wrote it I’m sure has some great ideas…I have her other book called “Parisian Chic” and loved it so much. Although it’s late spring, I also bought a burgundy lamb skin motorcycle jacket to go on top of layered t shirts and tank tops with my new Furla bag in black…also ebay purchase. For free at an event I picked up a cotton beige semi-large book bag which I’m seeing styled with big black leather bags…black leather sandals…fax leather jeans which I cut off at the ankles and I’m good to go!!!

    2. Thank you for sharing, Pamela- the book sounds amazing! I hope it gives you a lot of style inspiration xx

    5. I appreciate what you said about talking about clothing purchases with friends. That seems smart considering you can make sure that you can find out where the best deals are. I need to get a new work shirt for work.

    6. I love this post! I’m about the name a newly designed top for my collection KEFI which is Greek for ‘the spirit of joy, enthusiasm
      high spirits and frenzy,
in which good times and passion for life are expressed with an abundance of excitement, happiness and fun’

We need to have fun with fashion 100%
