Algorithm Dressing Versus Personal Style

I keep coming back to something I saw online, in my algorithm, about Adidas Sambas.
Adidas Sambas in black and white

It was a post that said:

Don’t worry—Sambas are still IN! I just got back from Paris. Everyone was wearing them.

    EVERYONE WAS WEARING THEM!

(That’s exactly when I know I don’t want to wear something!)

Listen, if you love your Sambas—wear them. There’s nothing wrong with that.

But wear them because you love them.

Not because an algorithm told you they’re “still in.”

Not because they’re everywhere and you’re afraid of being the only one doing something different.

    Because here’s what I’m wondering:

If we’re not paying attention to the small choices, how do we show up for the big ones?

That pull toward sameness shows up everywhere — in our clothes, our opinions, our conversations, our silence. In what we share, what we question.

Personal style is one way we reflect who we are
    .

It’s a mirror of our choices, our values, and what we choose to notice.

And right now, with everything that’s happening in the world, it feels like a good time to pay closer attention —

Have you noticed what you choose versus what chooses you?

Are you tuned into what you’re being shown and who’s showing it?

Are you aware of what you’re saying yes to without realizing it?

Can you see where you’re following the crowd and where you’re thinking for yourself?

    Because it all matters.
