As the weather warms up, some of our tendencies turn towards lightening and brightening our looks with prints and patterns. I’m all about adding vibrancy into an outfit, and this season there’s certainly no shortage of options to do the trick.
Here are some of spring’s most happening prints and what you need to know about wearing them.
Florals
Whether they’re big and bold, or small and dainty, flowers are showing up allover. Instead of falling into the same old with some breezy dress, why not branch out, and put the pattern on something a little more unexpected – like a jumpsuit!?! The larger the flower, the tougher it may be to flatter, so start simple — work with something closer to a bud – like this.
Stripes
Stripes make a great launch pad for mixing patterns. When creating your look, treat the lines like a solid — you could add in another motif, or even more stripes. Try it out with this.
Tie-Dye
Just when I thought my tie-dying days were left back at the Coachella-like-southern-CA college I attended, several designers brought them to the runways. Clearly, we won’t be going with Grateful Dead-ish tees, but rather more sophisticated silhouettes to balance the hippy, dippy vibe. You could try this or even this.
Gingham
Is there any print that shouts spring as loudly as gingham? To contrast the preppy pattern, pair it with sneakers and a bomber for a more undone vibe. I’m loving this one (that’s on sale today!).
