One of my styling non-negotiables is wearing shoes that are both comfortable and chic. The chic part is more of a taste thing, but the comfy bit…it’s a must! (And if you’re wondering what is a styling non-negotiable, click here to learn why you never wear that piece of clothing!)
Comfortable and Chic Shoes
Living in NYC means I walk… a lot. What begins as dinner in a restaurant could easily end up a mile long stroll home. And because getting blisters and sore feet is not an option, I choose my shoes based on walkability. But they must look good too!
There’s this category called sensible shoes. And if you google it, the suggestions that show up are not very attractive. Sure, these styles would be easy to walk in. But they’re certainly not chic. So the shoes I’m rounding up here will be sensible, yet you’ll love how they look! You shouldn’t have to sacrifice style for comfort.
Wedges
If you need to add a lift to your look, then go with a wedge instead of a stiletto. It’s always the more sensible choice.
Fancy Slides
Yes, they’re super casual. But if you add a fancy print to a comfortable slide then accessorizing your summer dress will feel like a walk on the beach.
Not Too Flat
Walking around the city in too flat shoes is never a good idea. In addition to not being healthy for your feet, the street dirt will pile up in between your toes.
Outdoorsy
Did you know that Teva’s are totally happening at the moment? It’s as if birkenstocks opened up the door and not we’re going all in on the outdoorsy vibe.
Block
Wedges will definitely do the trick, but a block heel is also a good option when you want to feel comfortable and chic.
And if you’re still looking…I’ve rounded up over 30 pairs for your personal style. Click here to see the lookbook!

i love this quote Elysha: BEAUTY BEGINS THE MOMENT YOU DECIDE TO BE YOURSELF….COCO CHANEL I got my first pedicure of the summer and am wearing a leather thong sandal that has a silver platform. The leather part is black so I love the chic vibe.
Sounds awesome, Pamela!
