Did you know there’s a specific date on the calendar that’s marked as the most depressing day of the year? (True stuff, google it!) And if you haven’t already guessed, this day happens to be right around now. So if you’re feeling a little low lately, you’re not alone! It’s officially that time of year. And that’s why I’m sharing 7 tips for a confidence boost to help keep your chin up and your outfit on point.
For Your Confidence Boost:
Put On Lipstick
You may be like, really? That’s all you got? I hear you. It’s like confidence boost 101. But there’s a reason why it’s so expected…it works! And it’s especially effective if you’re not a regular lipstick person, like me. If you do wear lipstick all the time, then go a bit bolder with your shade. Try this one.
Wear Heels
Not stilettos. Unless you want to – they’ll definitely give you a confidence boost. But you don’t have to go SO high to get the lift. I prefer a platform – not the crazy 90s club kid kind – more of a clog boot style. They always do the trick of encouraging me to stand taller. Which is a confidence boost in itself.
Watch the video where I show you what my clog boots look like along with explaining the 7 tips for a confidence boost.
Get a Haircut
Last winter I got a terrible haircut which intensified my winter blahs. I spent the next several months in head scarves, pony tails and whatever else I could do to neutralize the hack job performed on my head. When it finally grew out, and I got a fresh cut, it was Hallelujah time! My confidence was resurrected. So while I am suggesting a new haircut for a boost, be sure to see someone you know will do a good job. Otherwise you’ll be like me and not get your boost until the bad haircut grows out.
Know Your Body Shape
Once you understand the styles and silhouettes that flatter your shape best, getting dressed becomes a whole lot easier. Because you’ll know what to wear! And when you know what to wear that makes you look amazing, it breeds confidence…in your outfit, and in everything you do. Click here to discover which body shape you are.
Hang Out With Friends
Sometimes the best confidence boost comes from those you love when there’s no pressure to be someone you’re not. This way you can let loose, enjoy yourself and forget about the woes of the world.
Wear Fun Accessories
Hey, it’s the little thing, right? And if a fun pair of earrings or an entertaining necklace gives you a little boost, go for it!
Remember Why You’re Awesome
When I’m suffering from the winter blahs, I take time to reflect. I think about what’s going on in my life, and why it’s bringing me down. I like to do this first thing in the morning before the world has a chance to do its thing – like snatch my attention, and drag me into comparison mode from seeing all the highlights of those in my social feeds. The goal of this reflection session is to dig deep, stay judgement free and find compassion for yourself. Not everyday is a cause for celebration. And when you’re sinking into negativity…know that there’s always another opportunity to begin again.
I just started today….without knowing about the most depressing day of the year, to run up 3 flights of stairs 3 time with breaks in between. Simply decluttering and bringing stuff to the thrift store always gives me a boost as well, year round. so my go to is adrenalin and lightening my load. (by the way, where can we post our outfits now that Reclaim your Style is down?)
I love this Pamela – adrenalin + lightening your load. And I love that you’ve narrowed it down to what works for you💜 In regards to sharing your outfits – I’m not offering a platform for this at the moment, but will definitely let you know if that changes.
