Spring Moves

As a stylist, it’s my job to kind of know what’s going on in the world of fashion.  While I don’t by any means claim to swim in the high-end stream, I still love a beautiful photo.  The spring ad campaigns are starting to make their rounds, and I must say –  most are pretty underwhelming. Honestly, I don’t understand — why does a world so rooted in a forward-thinking-motion rely on such static imagery?

Is it just me, or don’t most women want to see how their clothes move?  Fashion is a lifestyle.  And lifestyle needs movement.  Thankfully there are some brands who got into the flow.   Here are my faves of the Spring 2013 campaigns.

Coco Rocha has proven herself to be so much more than a just a pretty face.  This campaign for Longchamp incorporates the vibrant personality of the model which luxuriates its on-the-go lifestyle.

DKNY has always been an action oriented brand seemingly for the the urban women who can do it all.  Okay, so maybe we’re not exactly that, but I’ll always have a soft spot for the NYC landscape setting the stage.  And even though model Cara Delevingne is shot standing still, the bold colors play perfectly off her caught-in-the-moment attitude.  My interest is piqued with curious intention. I’d follow that girl.

I realize this is part of Adidas so the sports thing is kind of built in.  But I am loving the way these images show clothing melded with movement. That’s my kind of style!

And although American Eagle Outfitters is geared more junior, it’s still worth a mention here.  The campaign exudes pure play enhanced by a free spirit.  Definitely an energy we could all benefit from!
