There’s a small window in New York City weather –when it’s not too hot, like last month. And still not too cold– as it soon shall be. It’s right now–the A/C is off, the heat isn’t yet on, and the leather jacket makes perfect sense.
My black moto jacket–the one I found at the old flea market on sixth avenue–has been very good to me through the years. It’s worked well with most everything in my closet — adding a rough edge to my more feminine pieces or slipping on easily with my jeans and tee. But it’s inevitable that as the autumn breeze kicks in, I’m drawn to every new leather that crosses my path. If I do decide to make an update, this is how I’d do it:
5 Leather Jackets I’d Wear Today
I’m a huge fan of grey (will go perfectly with my new clogs) and this buttery soft looking jacket reeks laid back style which makes it super enticing to throw on with everything…every day.
This is way beyond my price point. But it’s always good to aim high for your inspo. When I navigate the more affordable brands, this beauty will be in mind to remind me how my perfect leather jacket looks. Note: there’s a hood!
Though leather does break-in quite well, I don’t want to wait years for that to happen which is why I always gravitate towards a worn-in or distressed look. I’m also kind of digging this bomber style which is so happening this season.
Okay, still out of my price point. But this furry collar is so seventies rockstar that I automatically adore.
I actually tried this one on last year. It felt really nice, and I liked how it draped. Just not sure I need another black moto jacket.

Great ideas! Love my leather jacket too and autumn is a great time to wear it 🙂 I’ll keep these in mind though
A perfect time for a leather jacket! I will explore your suggestions and who knows I might make a purchase to “aim high for my inspo”. Love your words girl!!!!!
Love YOUR words, GGW! Thank you!! xo
Thank you, Susie! Autumn is the best time to wear a leather jacket — though I do try to extend the season a bit longer by layering underneath. Sometimes that’ll get me through Dec in my leather.
Love my leather jackets! When it gets chillier, I like to layer a fur vest over or under the jacket for a hint of fur à la that gorgeous Calypso St. Barth’s jacket you listed! Warmth and texture!
Love layering my leather jacket! It looks cute + extends its wearability into the colder months. Thanks, AFF!
Thanks for the inspiration, as always, Elysha. I am still pretty new to the leather love (mine are vegan–actually the two I bought at Target after reading favorable reviews in O, The Oprah Magazine are probably just plain artificial :)). I was actually still hesitant about a splurge last year in purchasing at Anthropologie a deep sea green, vegan leather jacket with a small peplum. But my best friend from childhood was in town and urged me to go for it. So pleased I did, as I have worn it or draped it to a wide variety of events, either to keep me warm or to add a little edge or both. But NOW I will def have to try layering it–thanks for that. I love coming here and getting polished and styled inside and out. xoxo
ST, your new jacket sounds FAB! Isn’t it awesome when a new purchase can give so much confidence? Sounds like you made the right choice in listening to your childhood friend…she clearly knows you! Thanks so much for your support– your comments always make me smile. XXoo

It’s a nice-looking jacket almost similar to mine Beth Dutton Biker Jacket I got from one of the Yellowstone Clothing Stores.
