You know what’s worse than getting caught in the rain? Getting caught in the rain unprepared. Call me uptight, but I do not enjoy getting wet! It makes my clothes sticky. My hair frizzy. And my feet feel disgusting. Not to mention what happens if water sinks through my bag and ruins my stuff.
Since I don’t want this to ever happen to you, I’m rounding up my stylist selects of what to wear on a rainy day.
Click play on the video to see how you can look stylish instead of getting soaked.
And read on for my stylist tips!
What To Wear On A Rainy Day – The Staple
Every good rain outfit starts with a proper raincoat. So why not choose one you love? While I adore the classic Burberry trench on others, it’s not my style. To be totally honest, I shop my rainwear in the kids section because I like something a bit more whimsical. But you can find fun styles in the women’s section as well.
For Dry Feet
Rain boots have come a long way from the floppy galoshes of yesteryear. And I love that there are so many options to choose from. You could go with a classic shiny version. Or pick something more now like the bootie cuts that you see allover. Personally, I prefer my rainboot matte with a little pizazz.
What’s On Top Matters
If you’re going to bypass the weather proof jacket and boots, you’ll definitely want to have a surplus of umbrellas. Because no matter how many times I tell myself not to leave mine in the cab, the restaurant or the store…I do. Also keep in mind that it’s nice to have something colorful to look up to when it’s totally gray outside.
So Your Stuff Isn’t Soaked
If you’re ready to go ALL IN on your rainy day outfit, then don’t forget your bag. The waterproof options tends to get kind of outdoorsy, but if you’re okay with water resistant you’ll find something you love. I’m a huge MZ Wallace fan because I’ve never had to deal with my stuff getting ruined inside one of their bags.

perfect for today!!! I recently bought a Furla “jelly” bag in navy blue which is entirely plastic and supple. It’s chic and waterproof. It’s not very large but serves me well. Elysha….I never thought about buying rain boots as a fashion accessory for even when it’s not raining…thanks for the tip!
I live in florida, so showers can come out of nowhere. My go tos are a Tote brand coverup that is 20+ years old and can’t be killed. Add a pair of Sketchers H2go and a compact umbrella that stays in the car and will also fit in my purse. Waterproof shopping bags from TJ Maxx, etc. also stay in the car. Done!
I know those waterproof bags from TJ Maxx! They last forever.
I’m seeing a lot of clear plastic bags lately…your jelly bag sounds perfect.
Nice one.Thanks for sharing
