You already know that practicing gratitude is an easy way to improve your life. But did you know there’s a better way of being thankful to see more positive results in your life?
Maybe you’re already waking up each morning, and writing down 10 things that you appreciate. Or perhaps it’s during the evening when you do a recount of what went well in your day.
These are both amazing practices that’ll provide a mood boost and help you feel happier in your life.
But I’d like to suggest a new approach to your thankfulness.
Rather than making general blanket statements, try getting more specific.
Refine the details of your appreciation the same way you would with goal setting. Did you know that the more clear you are with your goals, the better chance you have of achievement?
So apply this technique to your gratitude practice!
Instead of saying, I’m so grateful for my family. Or I really appreciate my cozy bed.
Try I am so grateful for my 2 kids who do their homework without me having to nag them.
Or I really appreciate my luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets and warm goose down comforter on my bed.
Does it seem silly to be so specific with your gratitude?
The truth is, it’s the details that allow you to tap into the feeling of love for your kids, or the coziness of your bed.
