Since many are living with a closet of clothes they don’t wear, I’ve decided to start a new series on the blog: Re-Style. My goal is to help you figure out new ways to style what you already own to reinvigorate your wardrobe.
In a nod to my previous post A Stylist’s Starter Guide To A More Minimal Wardrobe I’m going to tackle one of the items I mentioned that I haven’t worn in ages, a pin striped button down top. For this series, I’ll always try to choose pieces that are somewhat generic so you can relate it to your wardrobe. And I’ll only work with what I currently have in my closet…so no shopping!
Here are 3 Fresh Ways To Wear A Buttoned Down Top
Tucked in Tight With A High Waisted Skirt
Definitely a little office-y, this look is great for conveying you mean business, yet still totally chic.
Style tip: Keep the top taut so you get a smooth finish through the hips. My blouse is kind of oversize so it’ll never be super slim looking. But by keeping my skirt at knee length or above, the looser fit of the shirt doesn’t overwhelm the shape of my look.
Tied Up With Joggers
For when you want to upgrade your athleisure look a touch.
Style tip: Tie up the front, but keep the back loose and long. Depending on how cropped you are willing to go is how high you tie the top. You could keep the sleeves long, or roll them up for an even more casual vibe.
With Wide-legged Pants
A casual outfit that’s both comfortable and versatile.
Style tip: Keep the top unbuttoned, and let it hang loose. Layer it on top of a simple tank, preferably in a tonal shade.
