With more women working from home, the desire to look polished AND feel comfortable keeps coming up. That’s why I’m sharing the best types of shorts to wear and how to style them to look chic.
Types Of Shorts
After speaking to several women, I discovered many who question wearing shorts. Their bodies are changing, and they’re not sure if shorts are appropriate. (Click here to find out if you’re dressing appropriately). If you’re in this situation, you may feel most comfortable in long shorts, or bermudas.
Another style that’s good for those concerned with showing too much skin is the trouser short. Like a work pant with a tailored silhouette, these shorts will help you feel business-ready, even when your office is at the kitchen table.
Mix Up Your Outfit
While it may be ok on the weekends, the standard tee shirt and shorts isn’t going to cut it when you want to look chic.
To uplevel this look, the first thing you’ll need to do is implement the sweet and salty technique to create a dynamic balance. (See how the sweet & salty technique elevates your simple outfits here.)
This means playing with oppositions — like pair a dressier, pretty blouse with your denim cut-offs. Or put on a blazer to balance the proportions and skin-showing qualities from shorts.
Elevate Your Shorts
Another way to make your shorts look chic is to choose a more polished fabric. While denim and cotton are ok, you could also go for something dressier, like silk, to refine your look.
And don’t forget your accessories and shoes! Even if you’re staying home, popping on your favorite heels will not only elevate your outfit, it’ll lift your attitude and remind you how it feels to be chic.
